Top Five Posts of 2013

Around this time last year, I was nervously pacing around my apartment, having just dialed one of my good friend’s phone numbers. I’m about to tell her something which is making me feel incredibly vulnerable.

It rings.

I’ve planned out everything I want to say ahead of time. Going over and over it for at least three days. Anticipating her reaction and my response.

Ring two.

Maybe she won’t answer. I can just leave it in a message. Or…maybe I can just not tell her about it. I mean, it’s not a requirement that I tell everyone everything all the time. I’m allowed to do things without telling people.

She picks up.

No, I promised I would tell at least three people so that I would actually follow through. Now or never.

“I’m going to start a blog about being Christian, eating healthy and exercising.”

Here we are

Hard to believe that I’ve almost had this blog for a year now. And yeah, I really was that nervous about telling people I was starting a blog. Mainly because I’m afraid people will think it’s dumb.

But I’ll get over it.

This last year working on my blog has been a blast and I can’t believe some people still read it. Thanks for sticking with me and here’s to another year chock full of me telling you everything you like to eat is bad for you.

WordPress sent me a cool email that tells me my top posts for last year and I thought I’d share them with you. In case you missed any of them, be sure to check them out!

5. Equally…wait a minute…

This was my second post, I think. It’s all about why Christians should be healthy. Also, why I spelled my name Yolked and not Yoked. If you missed it or are wondering why I’m so bad at spelling, it’s a quick entry that’s worth the read.

4. Detroit Marathon – Guest Post

I can’t take credit for this one! This is a great post my cousin wrote about what it was like to run his first marathon…at 16!! If you’ve ever thought about marathon or even if you’ve ever had a fitness goal, this is a post you won’t want to miss.

3. Eat This Not That

Yay!! I think this is probably one of my favorite posts. I plan on doing a part 2 to this post sometime in the future. This is a great post to read if you’re trying to eat healthier in the new year and missing some things you gave up.

2. Let There Be a Blog

Swiss Cake Roll

My first post! If you haven’t checked out this post, it details my journey from a normal junk food eater to a crazy health nut. It’s worth a read if you want to know how I ended up here.

1. Spooky Ghosts and Eyeballs

I’m not surprised that this was my most popular post. I was lucky enough to have a blog that I love, Paleo Parents, link to it on one of their posts. Plus, this recipe is so fun! If you missed it, check it out.

Never Miss A Post!

Obviously every word I type is pure gold. If you haven’t signed up for my newsletter yet, I strongly suggest you do so! I only send out one a week at most and I also include some links to other interesting things I find around the web. You can sign up in the sidebar on the right or there’s a box to fill out at the bottom of this page.

Other great ways to make sure you never miss an update would be to “like” me on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, Pinterest, or Instagram.

And if that isn’t enough for you, you can always subscribe to my RSS feed.

So now you have no excuse to miss a single post! Thanks for reading and have a great New Year!

Congratulations on your one year blogiversary! I just finished up three years and I can’t believe how it’s flown by, or that people are still reading. It’s definitely been a fun journey and I’m so excited for you to joining on the bloggy fun as well. :) I remember when I discovered you had a blog I was like, OMG, I’m not the only weirdo from Romeo who started doing this! HA! And I’m still shy to this day when it comes to talking about my blog. I hate when I go somewhere with my mom while she’s visiting and she’s like “THIS IS MY DAUGHTER, SHE HAS A BLOG, ISN’T THAT COOL?” And the person just gives us a weird look…

Thanks! I hope I can make it to three years. Haha, we can be weirdo bloggers from Romeo together.

Oh, good. I’m glad my mom isn’t the only one who does that. Although I usually get, “Alysia…tell her about your blog!” and I’m just like, “yeah…I have a blog…mostly about food.” then I usually go hide somewhere.
